With endless trails (some for hiking, some for walking, others better suited for biking), magnificent state parks, and excellent campsites, there is always something to do if you’re the outdoorsy type.

Johnson Beach Discovery Nature Trail is located on Perdido Key. This is a nice hike for the entire family. The hike takes you on a raised boardwalk through dunes, pine trees, salt marsh outlooks, and brings you to a beautiful view of Grand Lagoon.

Brackenridge Nature Trail is a 0.3 mile boardwalk loop trail located in the Naval Live Oaks Park. The trail describes how the woodland provides food, shelter and nesting for birds, reptiles, and mammals in the area.

Big Lagoon is a fantastic destination to experience the outdoors in Northwest Florida. The park has 700 acres of beautiful land to explore. The park is great for birding, hiking, kayaking and more!

Naval Live Oaks Park located in Gulf Breeze has 10 miles of hiking and biking trails.

A family-friendly private nature retreat along Coldwater Creek north of Milton with tent camping, elegant cabins, glamping tents, organic gardens, and six miles of hiking trails.

There are two trails: Tarkiln Bayou Trail and Perdido Bay Trail. Tarkiln Bayou Trail is the shorter option and is all paved sidewalk and a wooden boardwalk, leading to Tarkiln Bayou. Perdido Bay Trail is the longer option that goes to Perdido Bay and towards Tarkiln Bay (but is ultimately inaccessible), and is all grassy service road.

Mountain Biking the UWF trails. This seems to be a perfect place for beginners to
get comfortable. Nothing too technical showed up, no major elevation changes and clearly marked paths make for a great time.

Free Camping in Florida. Could this be the best free campsite I’ve been to so far? Good chance it is. All you need is a reservation, which can even be done on the spot via phone or online. Beautiful location.
