2021 promises to be one of Jazz for Justice’s biggest events yet, with two headliners, 7 additional bands and artists from North Florida all the way to Louisiana (and counting!). This lineup not only brings back many of our favorites, including Tallahassee native Big Daddy & Red Hot Java, but also new to Jazz for Justice artists like Pensacola’s local band Entropy Machine, Ft. Walton artist Nik Flagstar, Blues crooner and Mississippi native Ed Adams, and Alabama’s piano sensation Pat Whitehead. Last year’s headliner Flow Tribe will join the ranks of the 2021 lineup again, delivering the enthusiastic flair we expect from their animated jazz riffs.
LSNF’s co-headliners will bring the brass and the beat we have missed in live concerts over the last year and a half. Jazz for Justice is excited to announce New Orleans bands New Breed Brass Band and Tuba Skinny as 2021’s knockout headliners! New Breed Brass Band takes the energy and pizzaz of the second-line brass band tradition to all-new heights. Their musical coordination and passion, mixed with youthful exploration, brings a whole new attitude toward brass bands. Not only were they named “Best Emerging Artist” by OffBeat Magazine, New Breed Brass Band played Newport Folk Fest and has backed Common at the Essence Festival. This is a show you do not want to miss this November! Finally, we have the energetic buzz of Tuba Skinny who has been growing their musical talent for well over a decade in New Orleans. Slowly the group grew into a combination of traditional New Orleans jazz, with remnants of ragtime and depression era blues. This robust musical sound embodies the rich heritage for which Southern Louisiana is known.
